On January 5, 2007, The Jewish Community of Armenia issued a statement fully supporting recognition and affirmation of the Armenian Genocide and supporting U.S. legislation which calls upon the President of the United States "to ensure that the foreign policy of the United States reflects appropriate understanding and sensitivity concerning the issues related to human rights, ethinic cleansing, and genocide documented in the United States record relating to the Armenian Genocide and for other purposes."
