The Armenian-American Action Committee (ARAMAC) is the grassroots arm of the Armenian Assembly of America which supports grassroots activism and anti-defamation. Providing accurate information regarding Armenian issues as well as responding to inaccurate information is critical today given that greater attention is being given to Armenian issues in Congress. Mobilizing, encouraging and supporting the vibrant Armenian communities throughout the United States in disseminating information, contacting members of Congress, and impacting legislation concerning Armenian-American issues is an integral part of improved U.S.-Armenia relations as well as improved conditions in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
What is ARAMAC?
ARAMAC, the Armenian-American Action Committee is the grassroots arm of the Armenian Assembly of America which is dedicated to the mobilization of the Armenian-American community in support of the follow objectives:
Grassroots Activism
Anti-defamation
Grassroots Activism: Armenian-Americans are well situated throughout the United States to support legislation in Congress which will have a direct impact on American foreign policy. The objective of grassroots activism is to ensure that our voices on critical issues are heard in Congress and throughout the country.
Anti-defamation: As Armenian-Americans become more active and greater attention is given to Armenian issues in Congress, the need for accurate information is increasing. The purpose of anti-defamation is to provide the press, local government, and Members of Congress with accurate information regarding Armenian-American issues. In addition, responding to misinformation in the press by writing letters to the editor or meeting with local editorial staff is a key component of anti-defamation efforts.
How can you help ARAMAC?
Becoming part of the American political process is much simpler than you think. ARAMAC seeks to get people like you involved at the local level. What does that mean? It means writing to your Member of Congress and asking for his/her support on Armenian-American legislation, calling your Representative/Senator during critical votes and thanking them when they support our issues. Furthermore, contacting your local ARAMAC State Chair and Vice Chair and informing them about misinformation in the press and responding to it is an important part of ARAMAC.
